The band formed in Liverpool in 1960, evolving from John Lennon’s earlier group, the Quarrymen. With the arrival of Ringo Starr in 1962, the lineup solidified with Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison, who had already been playing together since 1958. Their manager, Brian Epstein, played a crucial role in their professionalization, while producer George Martin expanded their sound in the studio. The release of "Love Me Do" in late 1962 marked their first major success and the beginning of a popularity that would become the famous "Beatlemania".

Biography

In 1966, they decided to stop live performances to focus on creating more complex and sophisticated albums. During this period, they produced iconic works such as Rubber Soul (1965), Revolver (1966), and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), which not only redefined the concept of the album but also influenced public perception of psychedelic drugs and Eastern spirituality. Their work on The Beatles (1968), known as the "White Album," and Abbey Road (1969) continued to pave the way for a new musical era. In 1968, they founded Apple Corps, a company that still manages their legacy today. Although they disbanded in 1970, their music continues to resonate today, and both McCartney and Starr remain active in the music world.

With over 600 million records sold worldwide, The Beatles hold the title of the most successful band in history. Their achievements include a record 20 number-one singles on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and 15 albums that topped the UK Albums Chart. Additionally, their legacy has been recognized with numerous awards, including eight Grammys and an Academy Award for the soundtrack of Let It Be (1970). The influence of their music and cultural impact has been so significant that they have repeatedly been ranked as the greatest artists of all time by various publications.
