Fun facts

Beatles recorded Dig a Pony during a concert on the rooftop of their studio in the heart of London. It was on January 30, 1969, during a session that wasn't planned for recording, but rather for playing in front of friends. The song was released on the album Let It Be, but it was written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon–McCartney. The voice of Paul McCartney appears in the chorus, although it isn't mentioned in the credit. The recording was part of a unique moment, in which the band let themselves go without thinking about the final result.

The story behind

The Beatles recorded Dig a Pony in January 1969, in London studios. The song is on the album Let It Be, and also appears in a remixed version called Let It Be... Naked. The lyrics began as a song that John Lennon wrote for Yoko Ono, his wife, and was called All I Want Is You. It then changed title and became Dig a Pony.

The recording had an extra beginning, and one can hear Ringo Starr saying "hold it!" to stop the others. The song has a slow rhythm, with a touch of blues and hard rock. Paul McCartney sings part of the beginning before Lennon starts singing, and at the end, McCartney's voice returns. It is one of the songs from the Rooftop Concert, the concert on the rooftop of the Apple studio.
