Fun facts

The Beatles recorded "Tell Me Why" in February 1964, in a London studio. The song was released on the album A Hard Day's Night, and also in an American version of the same album, along with Something New. John Lennon wrote the lyrics, although it is unknown whether he wrote them in Paris or New York. They recorded it in eight takes, quickly and without complications.

The story behind

The Beatles recorded Tell Me Why in February 1964, at the EMI studios in London. The song was released on the album A Hard Day's Night, which was launched in July of that year. It also appeared on the American version of the album, which came out a little earlier, in June. John Lennon's voice in the film of the same name is different from the studio versions, because it was recorded in mono. The song is part of a performance sequence in the Scala theatre, which was filmed in March. It is a rock song in B minor, written by Lennon, but credited to Lennon-McCartney.
