The story behind
Maxwell’s Silver Hammer, according to DoReSol
The Beatles recorded Maxwell’s Silver Hammer in 1969, as part of their album Abbey Road. The song comes from a long medley that is on the second side of the record. The idea is that it sounds as if something strange is happening, as if someone were doing odd things in a house. The guitar plays as if going through a Leslie speaker, and there is a Moog synthesizer that gives it an odd touch. The song lasts just over three minutes, but in that time it pulls you into a story you can't get out of. People keep listening to it, as if it had something to say that can't be explained.
