The story behind

When things turn gray and winter seems endless, sometimes all it takes is a breath of fresh air for the light to reappear. This is how Here Comes The Sun was born, a composition by George Harrison that emerged at a moment of relief. In early 1969, Harrison decided to take a day off from Apple Corps meetings and took refuge at his friend Eric Clapton's house. There, with an acoustic guitar in hand and surrounded by nature, he felt the freedom to leave business worries behind and captured in this song the feeling of hope with the arrival of spring. The lyrics, full of optimism, reflect that welcome pause and the renewal that good weather brings. The recording of Here Comes The Sun took place at EMI studios in London during July and August 1969. The song's characteristic sound is built on Harrison's acoustic guitar, but it also incorporates the use of a Moog synthesizer, an instrument he himself had introduced into the Beatles' sound after acquiring an early model in California. The piece, which also features time signature changes, was produced by George Martin and featured the participation of Paul McCartney on backing vocals and bass, and Ringo Starr on drums and handclaps. Although John Lennon did not participate in this recording, the song became one of Harrison's most notable contributions to the album Abbey Road, alongside Something. The track was even considered for inclusion on the Voyager Golden Record in 1977, and in 2019, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Abbey Road, it reached number 3 on the US Billboard Hot Rock Songs chart.
