Fun facts

The Beatles released «Hello Goodbye» after Brian Epstein's death. It was a single that climbed to the top of the charts in the United States and the United Kingdom. The lyrics were written by Paul McCartney, but it was attributed to Lennon and McCartney together. The song was released in November 1967, when the band no longer had their manager. It was a way of moving forward, as if they were saying goodbye to something that was no longer there.

The story behind

The Beatles recorded "Hello Goodbye" in October and November 1967. The song was released as a single on November 24, right after the death of Brian Epstein. At that time, the band no longer had a manager, and the song was a way of continuing to work. The idea came from Paul McCartney, who wanted to show how a song is written. He asked a friend to sing the opposite of what he sang, like black and white, yes and no, stop and go, hello and goodbye. The final part, where everyone sings "Hela, hey-ba hello-a", came from a spontaneous moment in the studio. McCartney remembered asking an engineer if he could use echo on the tom-toms, and that gave life to the song. The recording ended in November, and the mixing was the last phase. The song reached the top of the charts in the United States and the United Kingdom. It was included in the album Magical Mystery Tour in the United States, but it was not available in the United Kingdom until 1973.
