The story behind
The Beatles recorded "Flying" in September 1967, as part of the Album Magical Mystery Tour. It is an instrumental track, one of the few by the band that has no lyrics. Although it sounds like a piece without vocals, at the end some scattered words can be heard, as if someone were murmuring. It was the first song to receive credits to all four members: Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr.
The recording included mellotron, guitar, bass, maracas and drums, with some loops that give it a rhythmic touch. It was originally called "Aerial Tour Instrumental", but the name changed before its release. The Album was released in the United States on November 27, 1967, while in the United Kingdom it was released as a double EP on December 8.
