Fun facts

Beatles recorded a song called Magical Mystery Tour that was also the title of a television program they made in December 1967. They recorded it for an album that had the same name, but the thing is that in England and almost all countries it came out as a double EP, while in the United States Capitol Records turned it into an album by adding songs they had already released earlier in 1967. The lyrics were mainly written by Paul McCartney and were credited to the pair Lennon–McCartney.

The story behind

The Beatles recorded Magical Mystery Tour in 1967, as part of a television film that did not turn out to be what was expected. The project's soundtrack was released as a double EP in the United Kingdom on December 8, and as an LP in the United States on November 27. On that LP, there are songs that also formed the film's soundtrack, along with five additional tracks that became singles. Side one of the record includes Flying, the Beatles' first instrumental song, and I Am the Walrus, a piece that Paul McCartney wrote as a response to a professor analyzing his lyrics. The song had no clear meaning, and was a way of mocking those who wanted to find hidden messages. The recording took place in London studios, with production by George Martin, and was released by Parlophone and Capitol.
