The story behind
When you dive into Yellow Submarine in Pepperland, you encounter a piece that, although it bears the title of a well-known song, is part of something broader. The version that might sound familiar, the one from Revolver, is just one part of this release. Here, the original 1966 song is presented in a different context, as part of the soundtrack for an animated film. The duration of this version is 2 minutes and 10 seconds, a detail that allows you to quickly place it in your repertoire.
This album, released in January 1969 in the United States and a few days later in the United Kingdom, was conceived around the film of the same name, which premiered in London in June 1968. The record combines six tracks by The Beatles, including the aforementioned Yellow Submarine and All You Need Is Love, which had already appeared as singles. Curiously, All You Need Is Love came from the American album Magical Mystery Tour. The rest of the sonic material that completes the album is a re-orchestration of the film's soundtrack, by producer George Martin. The Beatles, formed in Liverpool and active in the 1960s, became a phenomenon, evolving from skiffle and rock and roll to exploring genres like psychedelic rock, always with an innovative touch.
