The story behind
The Beatles recorded Any Time at All at the EMI studio in London on June 2, 1964. The song was part of the album A Hard Day's Night, released on July 10 of the same year. The idea came when Paul McCartney suggested an instrumental bridge based on chords, without lyrics yet. The recording was initially incomplete, and at the time of mixing, the bridge still had no text. Thus, it remained on the LP.
The lyrics were written later by John Lennon, who described it in an interview as an effort to write something similar to It Won't Be Long, in D minor. Lennon's handwritten version was sold at an auction for 6,000 pounds in 1988. The song has a duration of 2:13 and was published by Northern Songs.
