The story behind
The Beatles recorded I’ve Got a Feeling on a winter day in 1969, on the rooftop of their building in London. It was a strange moment, an improvised concert that wasn't planned to be recorded. The song was born from two ideas that never finished: one by Paul McCartney and another by John Lennon. The first was called I’ve Got a Feeling, the second Everybody Had a Hard Year. Both merged into one, with the touch of Billy Preston on the piano.
The version heard on the album Let It Be was recorded on the rooftop, but before that, during the same week, they made another take in the studio. That one was later released on a compilation. The song has a gentle rhythm, with a piano that moves as if it were dancing. It's a song that is felt, not explained.
