The story behind

The Beatles recorded Your Mother Should Know in 1967, during the recording of Magical Mystery Tour. It was written by Paul McCartney, who composed it in his home in St John's Wood, London, with his aunt and uncle. The idea came from a conversation with his family, where he thought about how a conflict between a mother and son can leave marks on the relationship. He wanted to show that sometimes parents know more than one believes. In the film, the boys wore carnations, and McCartney's was black, something that generated rumors about his death.
