Fun facts

Beatles recorded One After 909 in 1970, on the album Let It Be. The song was written by John Lennon, with help from Paul McCartney, and they attributed it as a composition of his partner. The version we know is from the rooftop concert, on January 30, 1969. There they played it live, and it also appeared in the documentary of the same name. The lyrics were written before 1960, perhaps even in 1957, and it is one of the first songs they wrote together.

The story behind

The Beatles recorded One After 909 in 1969, on the rooftop of the Apple building. It was part of the film Let It Be, and was performed live, without rehearsal. The song has an odd beginning, as if someone played a wrong note, and in some versions it seems to be Harrison. There is also a fragment of Danny Boy at the end, as if he had forgotten to finish.

The original 1963 version was simpler, with a blues rhythm. In 1970 they recorded it again, faster, with more riffs. The song was included in Let It Be… Naked, a cleaner 2003 edition. The idea was to make a more direct version, without the previous effects. The song talks about trains, as if it were a memory of something old.
