Los Enanitos Verdes

Los Enanitos Verdes or simply Enanitos Verdes, sometimes abbreviated EV, was an Argentine Spanish-language rock band from the city of Mendoza. Originally organized as a trio with Marciano Cantero, Felipe Staiti (guitarist) and Daniel Piccolo (drummer) in 1979, they were later joined by Sergio Embrioni (guitarist) and Tito Dávila (keyboards). They began playing initially in clubs and bars in their city and the Cuyo region, later traveling to Buenos Aires in search of greater opportunities. In 1984 they were invited to the Festival de la Falda and chosen as the revelation group at the event; later that same year they recorded their first self-titled album and gained greater recognition with the song «Aún sigo cantando».

Although the following year Embrioni left the band to join Alcohol Etílico. The group continued recording albums as a quartet, such as Contrarreloj (1986), Habitaciones extrañas (1987) and Carrousel (1988), all of them produced by musician Andrés Calamaro. They were invited to the Festival de Viña del Mar 1988 where they were awarded a silver torch. After Enanitos Verdes published their album Había una vez... (1989), they announced their separation, according to the members in order to take a break and pursue solo projects, such as Cantero, who launched himself as a solo artist.
