Pink Floyd

Cuando pensamos en Pink Floyd, es casi inevitable imaginar paisajes sonoros expansivos y atmósferas que te transportan. Desde sus inicios en Londres en 1965, con Syd Barrett al frente, la banda se distinguió por ir más allá de las estructuras convencionales del rock. Sus primeras composiciones, como los sencillos "Arnold Layne" y "See Emily Play" de 1967, junto con el álbum debut The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, ya mostraban esa inclinación por lo experimental y lo psicodélico. La llegada de David Gilmour a finales de 1967, tras la partida de Barrett por cuestiones de salud, consolidó una alineación que, con Nick Mason en la batería y Richard Wright en los teclados, junto a Roger Waters en el bajo, sentaría las bases para una evolución sonora fascinante.

Fue en la década de 1970 cuando Roger Waters asumió un rol central en la lírica y la conceptualización de los álbumes, guiando a la banda a través de una serie de obras maestras que definieron el rock progresivo. Discos como The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977) y The Wall (1979) no solo alcanzaron un éxito comercial masivo, sino que también exploraron temáticas profundas y complejas, acompañadas de una experimentación sonora que se convirtió en su sello distintivo. La forma en que concebían sus discos, pensados como experiencias completas más que como colecciones de canciones, y sus elaboradas puestas en escena, marcaron un antes y un después en la concepción de un álbum de rock.

Biografía

A pesar de las tensiones internas que llevaron a la salida de Wright en 1981 y luego de Waters en 1985, Gilmour y Mason continuaron el legado de Pink Floyd. Con el regreso de Wright, grabaron álbumes como A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987) y The Division Bell (1994), ambos respaldados por giras de gran escala. La reunión de Gilmour, Mason y Wright junto a Waters para una actuación en el evento Live 8 en 2005 fue un momento significativo, especialmente tras el fallecimiento de Barrett en 2006 y Wright en 2008. El último álbum de estudio, The Endless River (2014), se construyó a partir de material inédito de las sesiones de The Division Bell, demostrando la persistencia de su búsqueda sonora. En 2022, la banda lanzó la canción "Hey, Hey, Rise Up!" como una expresión artística ante eventos globales.
