The sound of Nek, the stage name of Filippo Neviani, is characterized by a fusion of melodic pop-rock that has resonated in various parts of the world. Originally from Sassuolo, Italy, he began his musical career in the 80s, being part of bands like Winchester and White Lady, where he started to explore his artistic identity. His first major step as a solo artist came in 1992 with the release of his self-titled album, which included the single Amami. From his beginnings, Nek has shown a remarkable ability to address complex themes in his lyrics, as evidenced by his participation in the 1993 Sanremo Festival with In te, a song that touched upon the delicate subject of abortion.

A key moment in his career was his second place in the Castrocaro Festival in 1991, which allowed him to sign with the record label Fonit Cetra. In 1994, he released Calore umano, an album that consolidated his style and earned him recognition, while also receiving his first major award as the best young Italian singer. However, it was his participation in the 1997 Sanremo Festival with Laura non c'è that catapulted his career to an international level. This song, which became a great success, was part of the album Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto, which sold over 600,000 copies in Italy alone, achieving multiple platinum records.
