The story behind
Vivere senza te, according to DoReSol
When approaching Vivere senza te, we encounter a piece that, despite its 3-minute and 54-second duration, encapsulates a period of profound transformation for its creator. The music, born from the collaboration between Massimo Varini and Nek himself, feels like a reflection of that search for a new sound. This track is part of Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto, the singer-songwriter's fourth studio album, released in 1996. For Nek, this album represented a turning point, defining it as "the album of my second life." It was a production recorded with a renewed team, including a new producer and a group of musicians with whom he would share the next five years. Creative freedom was total, allowing for exploration of new musical directions.
The story behind Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto and, by extension, Vivere senza te, dates back to a significant change in the career of Filippo Neviani, known artistically as Nek. Born in Sassuolo in 1972, his musical beginnings saw him as part of the group White Lady in the late 1980s. His solo career began in 1992 with a self-titled album from which the single Amami was released. His first appearance at the Sanremo Music Festival was in 1993, performing In te, a song that generated debate due to its theme. That same year, Mietta performed Figli di chi, a composition of his. Nek also had a notable participation in Cantagiro, where he received recognition as the most popular artist awarded by TV Stelle magazine. In 1994, he received an award for best young Italian singer, shared with Giorgia Trovato, and released the album Calore Umano, his last work with the record label Fonit Cetra. The album Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto marked his move to a larger record label and was the first to feature a specific version for the Spanish market. Furthermore, it was the third album on which Antonello De Sanctis collaborated as a writer, while Massimo Varini not only co-wrote the songs but also handled the arrangements and artistic production alongside David Sabiu.
