The story behind
Sei grande, according to DoReSol
When you dive into Sei grande, you encounter a piece that, with its 4 minutes and 1 second, invites you on a sonic journey. The song, which is part of the album Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto, represents a turning point in the career of Filippo Neviani, known artistically as Nek. This album, released in 1996, marked his arrival at a larger record label and was the first to have a version designed for the Spanish-speaking market. For the composition, Nek collaborated with Massimo Varini, who also handled the arrangements and production along with David Sabiu. Nek himself described this period as the beginning of his musical "second life," working with a renewed team and with total creative freedom.
Nek's career, born in Sassuolo in 1972, began in the late 80s with the group White Lady. His first solo work came in 1992, from which the single Amami was released. His debut at the San Remo Festival was in 1993 with In te, a song that addressed a delicate topic and was inspired by a personal experience. That same year, Nek also contributed his writing to Figli di chi, performed by Mietta. His participation in Cantagiro earned him recognition as the most popular artist, awarded by TV Stelle magazine. In 1994, he received an award for best young Italian singer, shared with Giorgia Trovato, and released the album Calore Umano, his last record with Fonit Cetra. Subsequently, he achieved success with songs like Jane, Calore umano, Cuori in tempesta, and Angeli nel ghetto. In 1997, his participation in San Remo, although without an award, catapulted him to international fame with Laura non c'è.
