The story behind
Laura non c'è, according to DoReSol
When Nek released _Laura non c'è_ in 1997, he already had a history in Italian music. His real name is Filippo Neviani, born in Sassuolo in 1972, and before his solo career, he was part of a group called White Lady in the late 80s. His first solo album appeared in 1992, from which the single _Amami_ was released. A year later, in 1993, he debuted at the Sanremo Festival with _In te_, a song that generated debate due to its theme. In that same edition of the festival, Mietta performed _Figli di chi_, a track also written by Nek. His participation in Cantagiro brought him special recognition as the most popular artist, awarded by the magazine _TV Stelle_. In 1994, he received an award for best young Italian singer, shared with Giorgia Trovato, and released the album _Calore Umano_, his last work with the record label Fonit Cetra.
The album _Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto_, released in 1996, marked a turning point in Nek's career. It was his fourth studio album and the first to be recorded also for the Spanish-speaking market, released by Warner Music Italy. For this work, Nek collaborated with Antonello De Sanctis as co-writer, while the composition of the tracks was handled by Nek and Massimo Varini, who also took care of the arrangements and artistic production along with David Sabiu. Nek described this release as "the album of my second life," noting a change in his work team, a new producer, and total creative freedom with a group of musicians with whom he would share the next five years. The song _Laura non c'è_, with a duration of 3:47, was released as the second single from this album and achieved considerable success in Italy, Europe, and Latin America. Nek performed it at the Sanremo Music Festival in 1997.
