The story behind
Tu sei, tu sai, according to DoReSol
When you immerse yourself in Nek's music, especially in songs like Tu sei, tu sai, you encounter a stage in his career where things began to take a new and more personal direction. This track is part of Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto, his fourth album, released in 1996. This record marked a turning point, being the first recorded with a renewed team and a different producer, which gave Nek total creative freedom. It was a period of reinvention, which he himself described as "the album of my second life." The production featured the collaboration of Massimo Varini on arrangements and artistic production, along with David Sabiu. The duration of Tu sei, tu sai is 4 minutes and 22 seconds, a space that allows for the development of its sonic proposal.
Before reaching this point, Filippo Neviani, known artistically as Nek, already had a path behind him. Born in Sassuolo in 1972, his musical beginnings saw him as part of the group White Lady in the late 1980s. His solo career kicked off in 1992 with a self-titled album, from which the single Amami was released. His participation in the San Remo Festival in 1993 with In te, a song that addressed a sensitive topic, generated considerable attention. That same year, he also collaborated with Mietta on the composition of Figli di chi. His stint at Cantagiro earned him public recognition as the most popular artist. 1994 was an important year, receiving an award for best young Italian singer and releasing the album Calore Umano, which closed his phase with the record label Fonit Cetra. Subsequently, songs like Jane, Calore umano, Cuori in tempesta, and Angeli nel ghetto consolidated his presence on the music scene. In 1997, his return to San Remo with Laura non c'è became a milestone, considered by many as his masterpiece.
