The story behind
Di più, according to DoReSol
The song Di più, lasting 4 minutes and 14 seconds, emerges from a crucial moment in the career of Filippo Neviani, known artistically as Nek. This track is part of his fourth studio album, Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto, released in 1996. This album marked a turning point, being the first recorded with a renewed team, including a new producer and a group of musicians with whom Nek would collaborate for the next five years. The album's production was led by David Sabiu and Massimo Varini, who also contributed to the songwriting alongside Nek. Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto also stands out as Nek's first work to feature a specific version for the Spanish market, as well as being the third album in which Antonello De Sanctis participated as a writer.
Nek's beginnings date back to the late 1980s, when he was part of the group White Lady. His solo career began in 1992 with a self-titled album from which the single Amami was taken. His first appearance at the Sanremo Music Festival was in 1993 with In te, a song that addressed the topic of abortion, inspired by a close personal experience. That same year, Nek also contributed lyrics to Figli di chi, performed by Mietta at the festival. His participation in Cantagiro earned him recognition as the most popular artist by the magazine TV Stelle. In 1994, he received an award as the best young Italian singer, shared with Giorgia Trovato, and released his third album, Calore Umano, with the collaboration of notable musicians, marking his final work with the Fonit Cetra label. Later, Nek achieved other successes such as Jane, Calore umano, Cuori in tempesta, and Angeli nel ghetto. In 1997, his participation in Sanremo, though without winning, catapulted him to international fame with Laura non c'è.
