The story behind
Sei, according to DoReSol
The song Sei, with a duration of 4 minutes and 6 seconds, is taken from Nek's fourth studio album, titled Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto, released in 1996. This record marked a turning point for the artist, who moved to a larger record label and, for the first time, saw a version of his work adapted for the Spanish-speaking market. The production of this album featured the collaboration of Antonello De Sanctis as author, while the musical composition was handled by Nek and Massimo Varini, who also took care of the arrangements and artistic production alongside David Sabiu. Nek described this period as the beginning of his musical "second life," working with a renewed team that gave him total creative freedom and with whom he would collaborate for the next five years.
Before this point, Filippo Neviani, known artistically as Nek (born in Sassuolo in 1972), had already made his mark in music. In the late 1980s, he was part of the group White Lady. His solo career began in 1992 with a self-titled album from which the single Amami was extracted. His debut at the Sanremo Music Festival was in 1993 with In te, a piece that addressed the issue of abortion and was inspired by a personal experience. In that same edition of the festival, Mietta performed Figli di chi, a song written by Nek that he would re-record for his second album. His participation in the Cantagiro earned him recognition as the most popular artist from TV Stelle magazine. In 1994, he received the award for best young Italian singer, shared with Giorgia Trovato, and released his third work, Calore Umano, with the participation of notable musicians. This album was the last with his previous record label, Fonit Cetra. Subsequently, he achieved other successes such as Jane, Calore umano, Cuori in tempesta, and Angeli nel ghetto. His participation in Sanremo in 1997, although it did not earn him an award, catapulted him to international fame with Laura non c'è.
