The story behind
The song Solo, with a duration of 4:43, is from Nek's fourth studio album, titled Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto, released in 1996. This album marked a turning point in his career, being the first to be released also for the Spanish-speaking market and representing a change of record label to a larger company. The production of the album featured the collaboration of Antonello De Sanctis as co-writer of the lyrics, while the musical composition was by Nek along with Massimo Varini, who also handled the arrangements and artistic production with David Sabiu. Nek described this period as the beginning of his musical "second life", working with a renewed team, a new producer, and enjoying total creative freedom, which allowed him to forge a five-year professional relationship with a new group of musicians.
Filippo Neviani, known artistically as Nek, was born in Sassuolo on January 6, 1972. His beginnings in music date back to the late 1980s, when he was part of the band White Lady. His solo career began in 1992 with a self-titled album, from which the single Amami was taken. His first participation in the San Remo Festival was in 1993 with In te, a song that addressed the theme of abortion and was inspired by a personal experience. That same year, Nek also collaborated on Figli di chi, performed by Mietta. His participation in Cantagiro earned him recognition as the most popular artist, awarded by TV Stelle magazine. In 1994, he received the award for best young Italian singer, shared with Giorgia Trovato, and released his third work, Calore Umano, which was the last with his record label Fonit Cetra. Subsequently, he achieved success with songs like Jane, Calore umano, Cuori in tempesta, and Angeli nel ghetto. In 1997, he returned to the San Remo Festival with Laura non c'è, a piece that many consider his masterpiece.
