Muse

Muse started in Teignmouth, a city in England, in 1994. The band was formed by Matt Bellamy, Christopher Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard. Each had their role: Bellamy played guitar, sang and wrote songs, Wolstenholme handled the bass and vocals, and Howard was the drummer and took care of percussion.

The band stood out for their shows, which were more than just concerts. They did strange things, mixed genres and always had unusual ideas. They talked about topics like conspiracies, the end of the world, aliens and philosophy. It was like every song was a story that made you think.

Biography

They have a lot of discography. From 1999 to 2022, they released nine studio albums. They also made several live discs, with concerts in places like Wembley Stadium or the O2 Arena. One of the biggest was in Rome, where they performed in front of more than 60,000 people.

Before forming Muse, the guys were in other bands. Dominic played in one that did covers of Nirvana, and Matt was in another that imitated Michael Jackson and other pop artists. In 1992, Matt left his band because he didn't like how they looked. He then joined Dominic, who recommended him because he knew he had talent. It took some time until the final band was formed.

In 1994, they were called Rocket Baby Dolls and had a very striking image, a mix of goth and glam. They participated in a band contest, but didn't want to compete. In the end, they did and won, even though they didn't expect it. That made them take their music seriously. After that, they left Teignmouth, quit their jobs and dedicated themselves fully to music. The name Muse came from a comment by a teacher who said it seemed like there was an muse inspiring them. Matt liked the idea, and that's how they kept the name.
