Radiohead

Radiohead's music is distinguished by its experimental approach, which has pushed the boundaries of alternative rock. The band, formed in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England, in 1985, consists of Thom Yorke on vocals, guitar and keyboards; brothers Jonny Greenwood on guitar, keyboards and other instruments, and Colin Greenwood on bass; Ed O'Brien on guitar and backing vocals; and Philip Selway on drums. Their collaboration with producer Nigel Godrich, which began in 1994, has been instrumental in shaping their sound. The members met at Abingdon School, where, under the name On a Friday, they found a space to explore in the music department. There, their teacher introduced them to a range of genres that included jazz, film scores and avant-garde classical music from the 20th century, laying the foundations for their musical versatility.

After signing with EMI in 1991, Radiohead released their debut album, Pablo Honey, in 1993. Although their first single, "Creep", had a modest start in 1992, it eventually became a global hit. Their popularity and critical acclaim grew with The Bends in 1995. However, it was with OK Computer, in 1997, that the band solidified their status, creating an album praised for its complex production and lyrics exploring modern alienation. This work is considered a milestone in popular music. In 2000, Kid A marked a significant stylistic shift, incorporating elements of electronic music, jazz, classical music and krautrock, a change that initially divided audiences but was later recognized as one of the best albums of the decade. This was followed by Amnesiac in 2001, recorded during the same sessions. Their final album with EMI, Hail to the Thief (2003), blended rock with electronics, addressing themes such as war.
