The story behind
How Do You?, according to DoReSol
The song How Do You? stands out within the album Pablo Honey for its grunge style, which contrasts with the more alternative sound of the rest of the tracks. Thom Yorke's voice is intense, almost exaggerated, giving it a unique character. Despite receiving negative criticism at the time of its release—even being said to disrupt the album's continuity—the song remained a recurring element in the band's concerts during the Pablo Honey tour. However, in recent years, it has been almost completely removed from setlists.
The recording process for Pablo Honey took place in just three weeks at Chipping Norton Recording Studios in Oxfordshire, in 1992. During these sessions, Radiohead's lack of studio experience became evident, complicating the process. Production was handled by Paul Q. Kolderie and Sean Slade, who also mixed the album. Although the band had signed with EMI in 1991, their first EP, Drill, did not meet expectations, leading their team to focus on the US market for their debut album. Despite the challenges, Pablo Honey laid the groundwork for Radiohead's later growth, which would later become one of the most influential bands of their generation.
