The story behind
Thinking About You, according to DoReSol
The song Thinking About You by Radiohead is a reflection of complex emotions, focusing on the experience of being left behind by someone who has achieved fame. This theme of heartbreak and nostalgia is presented through a melody that, in its original form, was faster and had a more guitar-driven approach than the acoustic version found in the album Pablo Honey. This rockier version also appears on the EP Drill and in the demo Itch, showcasing the song's evolution from its early stages.
The recording of Pablo Honey was completed in just three weeks at Chipping Norton Recording Studios, where the band faced the challenge of their inexperience in the studio. Produced by Sean Slade and Paul Q. Kolderie, along with the band's co-manager, Chris Hufford, the production aimed to capture a fresh and appealing sound for the American market. Though the album had a modest start, with singles like "Creep" and "Anyone Can Play Guitar", Thinking About You stands out for its ability to capture human vulnerability, highlighting Thom Yorke's talent for addressing deep themes from unique perspectives.
