The story behind
Unnatural Selection, according to DoReSol
The idea behind Unnatural Selection seems to explore how our own biology programs us, almost as if we were computers. Frontman Matt Bellamy commented that the song suggests our DNA makes us more like machines than we usually think. With a duration of 1 minute and 19 seconds, this piece is integrated into the English band Muse's fifth studio album, titled The Resistance, which went on sale in September 2009.
This album, produced by the band itself between September 2008 and May 2009 in their studios in Como, Italy, fuses rock with orchestral and electronic elements. The lyrics of The Resistance draw on political themes and darker matters, and it includes a three-part symphonic piece called Exogenesis. To promote the album, singles such as Uprising, Undisclosed Desires, and Resistance were released. The band Muse, formed in Teignmouth, England, in 1994, is composed of Matt Bellamy (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Dominic Howard (drums), and Christopher Wolstenholme (bass, backing vocals).
