Gaby Amarantos

Gaby Amarantos, as they call her, was born in Belém, in the state of Pará, in 1978. She grew up in Jurunas, a neighborhood on the edge of the city. At fifteen, she started singing in the choir of the parish of Santa Teresa de Lisieux. Her father was a samba dancer, and that put her into the world of music from a young age. She also got together with the Flashbrega, a style that was moving in Pará, and played MPB and jazz, especially with songs by Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.

In the early 2000s, she started performing on stage. She earned a place in the tecnobrega, a genre that was growing in Pará. Since 2002, she took the lead of the Banda Tecno Show. She recorded two audio albums and one video clip album. She moved with the music, made it her own, and took it to others.
