The story behind
The energy of Foguinho doesn’t last for a minute and twenty-three seconds—it bursts like a flash of lightning in the middle of the night in Belém. Recorded for the album Rock Doido, this short but intense track captures the spirit of aparelhagens—those street parties where sound becomes collective—with a rhythm that throbs like an accelerated heart. It’s not a song you listen to; it’s one you feel: tecnobrega blends with carimbó and funk, creating a mix that sounds like tradition and modernity at the same time. What’s most striking isn’t just its length, but how it conveys the euphoria of a live moment, as if the studio had been replaced by a public square.
The Rock Doido project, released in August 2025, emerged as a natural extension of Gaby Amarantos’s work with her Pará roots, but with an innovative twist: it was recorded in collaboration with the collective Altar Sonoro, aiming to emulate the structure of an aparelhagem set, where songs flow without pauses. The result is an album that works as a single piece, with Foguinho as one of its highest points: an 83-second flash that distills the essence of what the album seeks to convey. The production opted for a raw, almost documentary-like sound, where every note seems improvised, yet with a precision only achieved when music is born from the streets.
