Rock Doido

Gaby Amarantos released Rock Doido in August 2025. It was the artist's fourth studio album, but it wasn't a standard project. It arose from a personal need: she wanted to connect more with her roots, especially with the festas de aparelhagem, those street parties held in the north of Brazil. There, among the noise and energy of the streets, she found the spirit of the album.

About the album

Rock Doido, according to DoReSol

She worked with the collective Altar Sonoro, which helped her create something that didn't resemble a normal album. They recorded it as if it were a set, with short songs that link together. The idea was that the listener would feel as if they were in the middle of a party, moving with the music. They used simple technology, like a phone, to record a short continuous shot in the Condor neighborhood, in Belém. That gave it a sense of authenticity and freshness.

On the album, she mixed sounds of tecnobrega, funk, carimbó, and Latin rhythms. Each song has a light weight, as if made to dance. Some are called Foguinho or Carregador de Aparelhagem, and they are part of that energy that comes from the streets. The album not only sounded good, but also caught the attention of the critics, who saw it as a project that elevates the popular music of northern Brazil.
