Mamãe Mandou

The story behind

Gaby Amarantos wrote Mamãe Mandou as part of the album Rock Doido, released in August 2025. The song feels like a moving party, with rhythms that mix funk, carimbó and other sounds from northern Brazil. The lyrics talk about a mother giving orders, as if she were directing a band, and the music moves with that energy of the aparelhagem festivals, those street celebrations that become a way of life. The song lasts just over a minute and a half, but in that time, the weight of a tradition that lives on the streets is felt.
