The story behind
Deixa, according to DoReSol
Gaby Amarantos takes the rhythm of aparelhagens —those street parties from Brazil’s North— to another level with Deixa. The song doesn’t sound like a studio recording but rather like a direct cut from a Rock Doido night, an album crafted to capture the raw energy of Belém do Pará. In just two and a half minutes, the artist’s voice blends with layers of tecnobrega and carimbó, creating a loop that invites movement without overthinking the beat. What stands out isn’t just the genre fusion but how the production makes the listener feel as if they’re right there, in the middle of the chaos, as if every note were a collective shout.
The album Rock Doido, released in August 2025, was born from the collaboration with the collective Altar Sonoro as a natural extension of Gaby Amarantos’ exploration of her roots. The songs were recorded to sound like an uninterrupted set, with transitions that erase the line between studio and street. Deixa is the perfect example: a short but intense track where Latin rhythms and funk intertwine with the urgency of a party that refuses to end.
