Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi started in New Jersey in 1983, with Jon Bon Jovi as the guy who sang and played. From the beginning, the band was moving in the rock, and over time they made a name for themselves. Today, the lineup includes David Bryan on keyboards, Tico Torres on drums, Hugh McDonald on bass, Phil X and John Shanks on guitar, and Everett Bradley on percussion. Richie Sambora, the guitarist who was with the group for thirty years, left in 2013.

The first album, of the same name, came out in 1984 and was the one that released «Runaway», which entered the Billboard Hot 100. Later, in 1986, with Slippery When Wet, the band expanded around the world. That album was the best-selling of 1987 in the United States and sold over twenty-eight million copies. The song «Livin' on a Prayer» became one of the most famous of the eighties, according to VH1.

Biography

At the beginning of the nineties, they decided to change their sound. The glam metal that had defined them started to lose strength, and the band adapted to what was happening. Keep the Faith was the album that marked that turn, although not everyone received it the same way. Nonetheless, it sold twelve million copies. With Cross Road in 1994, they became one of the most sold groups in history. «Always» was the single that gave them four platinum albums.

In the two-thousands, the band continued exploring new territories. These Days was more pop rock, and it had good reception in Europe, Japan and Latin America. In 2000, «It's My Life» became a global success, reaching number one in nine countries. Afterwards, they released albums that addressed more profound themes, such as the economic crisis or the life of the common people. In 2007, they received their first Grammy for «Who Says You Can't Go Home?», along with Jennifer Nettles.
