The story behind

During the recording of Slippery When Wet, the album that catapulted Bon Jovi to fame, techniques were used to capture the energy of the moment. The studio sessions, which took place between January and July 1986 at Vancouver's Little Mountain Sound Studios, were produced by Bruce Fairbairn. Recording engineering was handled by Tim Crich and Bob Rock, who also mixed the album. Released in August 1986, this record became a milestone, being the first glam metal album to place three songs in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, including hits like You Give Love a Bad Name and Livin' on a Prayer. To promote the material, the band embarked on the Slippery When Wet Tour, which ran from July 1986 to October 1987.

I’d Die for You, with a duration of 4 minutes and 32 seconds, is one of the tracks on this influential work. The band, originally from New Jersey and formed in 1983, has often been associated with 80s glam metal, a label they have always sought to distance themselves from, defining themselves more as a rock and roll band. The lineup that recorded this album included Jon Bon Jovi on vocals, David Bryan on keyboards, Tico Torres on drums, Hugh McDonald on bass, and Phil X on guitar.
