Aerosmith

Aerosmith is an American rock band formed in Boston in 1970, and their sound is characterized by a fusion of blues-based hard rock, with touches of pop rock, heavy metal, and rhythm and blues. This distinctive style has left a deep mark on the musical landscape, inspiring numerous artists who came after them. Known as "the bad boys from Boston," their lineup includes the charismatic vocalist Steven Tyler, bassist Tom Hamilton, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford. The collaboration between Tyler and Perry, often called the "Toxic Twins," has been fundamental to their creative process.

Aerosmith's career took off with the release of their self-titled debut album in 1973, followed by Get Your Wings in 1974. However, their true breakthrough came with Toys in the Attic (1975) and Rocks (1976), which solidified their status in the rock scene. During the 1970s, the band embarked on extensive tours and achieved several chart successes, with standout songs like "Sweet Emotion," "Dream On," and "Walk This Way." By the end of that decade, their popularity was undeniable, but internal struggles and drug addiction led to Perry and Whitford leaving in 1979 and 1981, impacting their trajectory.

More about Aerosmith

Biography

The return of Perry and Whitford in 1984 marked a new chapter for Aerosmith. After a reunion tour, they released Done with Mirrors in 1985, though it did not meet commercial expectations. A collaboration in 1986 with rap group Run-D.M.C. on a new version of "Walk This Way" revitalized their career, followed by the successful album Permanent Vacation in 1987. From then on, they released a series of well-received albums, such as Pump (1989) and Get a Grip (1993), producing memorable hits like "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)," "Angel," and "Cryin'." Aerosmith also stood out in music video production and had appearances on television and film, consolidating their presence in popular culture. In 1998, they achieved their first number-one hit with "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," featured in the soundtrack of Armageddon.

Throughout their career, Aerosmith has sold over 150 million records worldwide, becoming one of the most successful rock bands in history. Their legacy is reflected in numerous awards, including multiple Grammys and their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. Despite facing challenges, such as Tyler's recent vocal injury, their creative spirit remains alive, and in 2025 they released their first new material in thirteen years, collaborating with Yungblud on the EP One More Time.
