The story behind

When Aerosmith embarked on recording their first album, they were looking for a sound that was anchored in the roots of blues, but at the same time presented a dense hard rock with its own energy, distinct from what was heard in the rock scene of the time. On this first work, they included *Walkin’ the Dog*, a piece that originally belonged to Rufus Thomas. The recording of this debut album took place over a two-week period at Intermedia Studio in Boston, Massachusetts.

The band, which formed in Boston in 1970, had already defined its core lineup with Steven Tyler on vocals, Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton on guitars and bass, and Joey Kramer on drums, with Brad Whitford joining in 1971. They signed with Columbia Records in 1972, and their debut album, released in 1973, reached #21 on the Billboard 200. On the back cover of one of the early editions of this record, there was a printing error that affected the title of the song *Walkin' The Dog*.
