The story behind

When one dives into the early recordings of Aerosmith, one encounters gems like Write Me a Letter. This piece, which is part of their self-titled debut album, kicks off with a drum line that immediately invites you to join a slow, deep blues. Steven Tyler's voice narrates the wait for a letter from a loved one, creating an intimate atmosphere. What's interesting is that this song marks the first time the band incorporated the harmonica into their sound, a detail that gives it a special color and undoubtedly adds to the experience of playing it.

The story of Write Me a Letter also takes us back to the beginnings of Aerosmith. It was recorded in 1972, at Boston's Intermedia Studios, and its official release was on January 5, 1973. During the early years of the seventies, it was common to hear it at their concerts, often opening or being the second song of their sets. In fact, the first time it is recorded that they played it live was on March 20, 1973, at Boston's Paul's Mall. A live version of this song can also be found on the compilation album Pandora's Box. The production of this recording was handled by Adrian Barber, who also worked as a recording engineer alongside Robert Stoughton and Caryl Weinstock, while Buddy Verga is also credited as producer.
