Deep Purple

Deep Purple is a British band that has left a deep mark on the history of rock, standing out as pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock. Their sound has evolved over the years, beginning with influences from psychedelic and progressive rock, and becoming more powerful with the album Deep Purple in Rock in 1970. This shift marked a turning point, positioning them alongside other great bands like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath in the British rock scene of the 1970s. Their fame grew to such an extent that in 1975, the Guinness Book of World Records recognized them as "the loudest band on the planet" after a memorable concert at the Rainbow Theatre in London. The original lineup of Deep Purple, known as "Mark I," included Rod Evans (vocals), Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Nick Simper (bass), Jon Lord (keyboards), and Ian Paice (drums).

This lineup recorded three albums before Evans and Simper were replaced in 1969 by Ian Gillan and Roger Glover, giving rise to the famous "Mark II." With this new formation, the band released iconic works such as Fireball (1971) and Machine Head (1972), albums that not only boosted their popularity but also played a crucial role in defining the genres of hard rock and heavy metal. However, in 1973, Gillan and Glover left the group, being replaced by David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes, leading to the "Mark III." This period was also prolific, with releases like Burn and Stormbringer (both from 1974).After several lineup changes and a hiatus in their career, Deep Purple reunited in 1984 with the "Mark II" and released Perfect Strangers (1984) and The House of Blue Light (1987).
