Oasis

When you immerse yourself in the music of Oasis, you encounter a sound that defined an era, especially in the context of Britpop. The band, originally from Manchester, was formed in 1991, although its roots go back to 1990 with a previous group called "The Rain". The inclusion of Liam Gallagher as vocalist and, crucially, the arrival of his brother Noel as lead guitarist and main songwriter, laid the foundation for what would be their sonic identity. Noel Gallagher became the creative engine, defining the group's musical direction.

The impact of Oasis on the charts and musical history is evident in the figures of their early works. Their debut album, Definitely Maybe, sold 8 million copies, while its successor, (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, reached 26 million. The latter, in particular, stood out for its enormous international success and for being the best-selling album in the United Kingdom during the 1990s. The third album, Be Here Now, broke sales records upon its initial release in the UK, selling 420,000 copies on its first day. These figures positioned them as a major force, leading them to appear in the Guinness Book of Records on several occasions.

More about Oasis

Biography

The dynamic between the Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, was central to Oasis's trajectory, not only in songwriting and leadership but also in their media presence, often marked by public disputes with other artists and among themselves. Over the years, the group's lineup underwent changes, with the departure of founding members like Paul Arthurs and Paul McGuigan, and later Alan White. These positions were filled by musicians such as Gem Archer and Andy Bell. The band released a total of seven studio albums, culminating with Dig Out Your Soul in 2008. The story of Oasis as a group came to an end in 2009, following Noel Gallagher's departure. Liam Gallagher continued with the project Beady Eye, which was active until 2014.

In 2007, Oasis received the BRIT Award for their "outstanding contribution to music," a recognition of their career. The band's legacy extended beyond their recordings, manifesting in massive events like the Knebworth concerts in 1996, which gathered 125,000 people each night. After a 15-year hiatus, in 2024 the return of Oasis was announced, with plans for a world tour in 2025 that would include stops in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, the United States, Mexico, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, and Chile. By 2024, the band had sold over 80 million records globally, consolidating them as one of the most successful artists of all time.
