La Oreja de Van Gogh is a band that has left a significant mark on the Spanish music scene, known for their melodic sound and their connection to the style known as Donosti Sound, which represents several pop-rock groups from San Sebastián. Since their formation in 1996, the group has evolved, incorporating elements from various genres such as ranchera, bossa nova, and electronic music, allowing them to create a varied and appealing repertoire. Their music, which ranges between melodic and darker tones, has resonated not only in Spain but also in Latin America and, to a lesser extent, in other European countries.A key moment in their career was the departure of Amaia Montero in 2007, who had been the group's lead vocalist for over a decade.

Her exit marked a change in the band, which later incorporated Leire Martínez in 2008. Despite this change, La Oreja de Van Gogh continued to achieve success and maintain their relevance in the music industry. The band has sold over eight million records, becoming one of the best-selling groups of the 21st century in Spain. Additionally, they have been awarded several prizes, including the Latin Grammy and the MTV Europe Music Awards.Their debut album, Dile al sol, released in 1998, was the result of a process that began with their participation in the Concurso Pop-Rock Ciudad de San Sebastián, where they won in 1997. This success allowed them to record their first demo and later sign with Sony Music.
