The release of Laura coincided with the singer's participation in the 1994 Sanremo Festival, where she competed in the Giovani category, one year after winning in the Nuove proposte section. There, she performed Strani amori, a song that, despite being much loved by the public, received some criticism for being considered too conservative and youthful. The album also includes Gente, another of the standout singles. It is worth mentioning that some of these songs were adapted into Spanish for the Spanish and South American editions, and there was also an Italian version for the English market released in 1995.
A particularity of this album is that several of its compositions, including the album in its entirety, are dedicated to Silvia Pausini, the artist's sister. The album's production was handled by Angelo Valsiglio and Marco Marati. With a total running time of just over 42 minutes, this work, released by CGD Records, has sold around three million copies worldwide.
