Tribalistas

The sound of Tribalistas, the self-titled album by the Brazilian trio, evokes a sense of returning to roots, but with a freshness that makes it completely new. Released in 2017, this work arrived fifteen years after their acclaimed debut, and a maturity in the proposal is noticeable. The gestation process was particular: during 2016, Marisa Monte, Arnaldo Antunes, and Carlinhos Brown met in Salvador, Bahia, composing between two and three songs per day, which resulted in about twenty creations. This close and productive working dynamic is perceived in the album's cohesion.

About the album

Tribalistas, according to DoReSol

Within this album, there are songs that resonate strongly. Já Sei Namorar, for example, became a very popular track, reaching position 20 on the charts. Another example is Velha Infância, which had a significant impact, being the most listened-to song of the 2000s. These pieces, along with others like Passe Em Casa, were performed by the trio at a Marisa Monte show at the Concha Acústica in Salvador in 2016, fueling rumors of a possible comeback.

The official announcement of this second album came unexpectedly through a Facebook live stream, where they previewed four of the ten songs that would make up the album. After its digital release on August 25, 2017, Tribalistas quickly climbed the popularity charts, reaching the top spot in Brazil and achieving good positions in countries like Portugal, Argentina, Chile, and Spain. Additionally, a "Tribalistas Special" was released on television and a "hand album" in collaboration with Facebook and Spotify, offering additional content about the recordings.
