The story behind

Anjo da guarda, according to DoReSol

The song _Anjo da guarda_ by Tribalistas, with a duration of 2:48, emerges from the collaboration between Arnaldo Antunes, Carlinhos Brown, and Marisa Monte. These three Brazilian artists, with solid individual careers, joined forces to create a musical project that, although it materialized in an album in 2017, has its roots in a connection that had been developing for almost a decade. The relationship between them was not only professional but also one of deep friendship, forged through previous collaborations on their individual works.

The genesis of Tribalistas as a group dates back to 2002, when they decided to formalize their union. Their first album, released at the end of that year in Brazil and the following year internationally, became a phenomenon. Despite the absence of promotion and interviews, the record topped the music charts and sold 1.5 million copies in their native country alone, earning a diamond record. This artistic connection was nurtured by years of sharing music; for example, Marisa Monte had already performed _Comida_ on her 1989 album, a song originally by Titãs, a band of which Arnaldo Antunes was the vocalist. Later, Monte included compositions by Antunes and Brown on her own albums, as in _Mais_ from 1991, which also featured songs by Nando Reis. The geographical distance between them, as Monte is from Rio de Janeiro, Antunes from São Paulo, and Brown from Salvador, made meetings to create together a logistical challenge, but the musical chemistry prevailed.
