Velha infância

The song *Velha infância* by Tribalistas became a true phenomenon in Brazil. It was the second single from their self-titled debut album, released in 2003, and quickly climbed to the top of the country's music charts. Its impact was such that, by the end of the year, it was positioned as the most listened-to song on Brazilian radio, and its popularity extended to become the most played of the 2000s and even the 21st century. The composition of this piece is a collaborative effort among the group's members, Arnaldo Antunes, Carlinhos Brown, and Marisa Monte, along with Davi Moraes and Pedro Baby.

Beyond its radio success, *Velha infância* found a special place by being part of the soundtrack of the telenovela *Mulheres Apaixonadas* in 2003, broadcast by Rede Globo. There, it became the main theme for the characters Cláudio, played by Erik Marmo, and Edwiges, portrayed by Carolina Dieckmann. The song has continued to resonate over time; it was performed live during Tribalistas' first world tour, the *Tribalistas Tour* of 2018/2019, and in 2022, the American magazine Spin included it in its list of the best songs of 2002. Tribalistas' debut album, released in 2002 in Brazil and internationally in 2003, was a great success, selling 1.5 million copies in Brazil without the need for promotion.
