This trio, formed by Marisa Monte, Arnaldo Antunes, and Carlinhos Brown, already had a shared history that dated back nearly a decade before the group's official formation. Antunes and Monte, for example, had already shared stages and compositions, such as Monte's performance of *Comida*, originally by Titãs—a band of which Antunes was the vocalist—on her 1989 album. This prior connection laid the groundwork for a deep musical understanding, where compositions flowed effortlessly between them, often in collaborations by pairs, despite living in different cities across Brazil.
