The story behind
Um a um, according to DoReSol
The song *Um a um* by Tribalistas, with its duration of 2 minutes and 41 seconds, immerses us in the essence of a project that was born from friendship and musical collaboration. This trio, formed by Marisa Monte, Arnaldo Antunes, and Carlinhos Brown, already had a shared history that dated back nearly a decade before the group's official formation. Antunes and Monte, for example, had already shared stages and compositions, such as Monte's performance of *Comida*, originally by Titãs—a band of which Antunes was the vocalist—on her 1989 album. This prior connection laid the groundwork for a deep musical understanding, where compositions flowed effortlessly between them, often in collaborations by pairs, despite living in different cities across Brazil.
The self-titled album, Tribalistas, originally released in Brazil in November 2002 and internationally the following year, was the result of this chemistry. The work, which included hits like *Já sei namorar*, proved to be a phenomenon, topping music charts and selling 1.5 million copies in its home country without relying on traditional promotion or interviews. Fifteen years after their debut album, in 2017, the Brazilian supergroup Tribalistas released their second studio album, keeping the creative spark that united them alive.
