The song *Mary Cristo* by Tribalistas, with a duration of three minutes, emerges from the creative collaboration between Arnaldo Antunes, Carlinhos Brown, and Marisa Monte. These three Brazilian artists, with consolidated careers, joined forces to bring this musical project to life. Their artistic connection had been developing for almost a decade, with previous collaborations on individual projects. For example, Marisa Monte had already performed *Comida* on her first album in 1989, a song originally by Titãs, a band of which Arnaldo Antunes was the vocalist and leader at the time. Over the years, Monte included songs composed by Antunes and Brown in her works, strengthening a bond that transcended the professional to become a solid friendship.

The formation of Tribalistas as a group materialized in 2002, culminating in the release of their debut album at the end of that year in Brazil, and the following year internationally. This album, which included thirteen unreleased tracks, became a great success in Brazilian popular music, reaching the top of the sales charts and earning a diamond record for selling 1.5 million copies in Brazil, all without the need for promotion or interviews from the members. The supergroup's second album, also titled Tribalistas, saw the light of day on August 25, 2017, fifteen years after their first record work. Despite living in different cities —Monte in Rio de Janeiro, Antunes in São Paulo, and Brown in Salvador— they managed to compose together, often working in pairs, overcoming geographical distances to create music.
