The story behind

Tribalistas, according to DoReSol

The Tribalistas project, which brings together Marisa Monte, Arnaldo Antunes, and Carlinhos Brown, gave life to a self-titled album that, after its release in 2002, became a phenomenon. This work, which contained thirteen new tracks, took fifteen years to have a follow-up, with the trio's second album appearing in 2017. The first album, released in late 2002 in Brazil and the following year internationally, reached the top spot on the music charts. Despite not having promotion or interviews, it sold 1.5 million copies in Brazil, achieving a diamond record. The song Já sei namorar was one of its biggest hits.

The union of Marisa Monte, Arnaldo Antunes, and Carlinhos Brown was not a casual occurrence, but the culmination of a professional and friendship relationship that spanned almost a decade. As early as 1989, Marisa Monte performed Comida, a song originally by Titãs, a band of which Arnaldo Antunes was the vocalist. Over the years, Marisa included compositions by Antunes and Brown on her albums. Although they lived in different cities —Marisa in Rio de Janeiro, Arnaldo in São Paulo, and Carlinhos in Salvador—, which made meetings difficult, they began to compose together, often in pairs. The album Tribalistas, with a duration of 3:23, was the result of this creative chemistry.
