Surfer Rosa

Pixies released Surfer Rosa in 1988, when they were in their prime youth, with a lot of ideas and little experience. The album started to sound like more than just a studio project: it was as if the band were recording in the middle of a storm, with wind noise and things that couldn't be controlled. The music was fast, sometimes chaotic, but always with a touch of grace.

About the album

Surfer Rosa, according to DoReSol

The song Where Is My Mind? stood out for its strange rhythm and that voice that seemed to come from another world. The band didn't worry about making it perfect, rather they let themselves be carried by whatever came to mind. In Surfer Rosa, Pixies weren't trying to impose themselves, but to explore, and that's heard in every note.
