For this project, Charly gathered musicians with whom he already had a connection. Pablo Guyot and Alfredo Toth were on guitar and bass respectively, who were also part of the band GIT, whose first album García had produced. Willy Iturri, also from GIT, was on drums, and Fito Páez contributed on keyboards. As guests, they added Daniel Melingo on saxophone and Fabiana Cantilo on backing vocals. The live presentation of Piano Bar took place at the Luna Park Stadium, and on one of those nights, Luis Alberto Spinetta joined them on stage.
A curious anecdote is about the title of the song No se va a llamar mi amor. Charly wanted to register it as Mi amor, but they wouldn't allow it because another song with that name already existed, so he opted for that ironic title. The album, released in 1984, includes tracks like Demoliendo hoteles, Promesas sobre el bidet, Raros peinados nuevos, and the title track, Piano bar.
